Granite Peak – #49
Posted on July 14th, 2010 by sarah_hassell
The team left Billings around noon on Tuesday for their attempt on Granite Peak. Coming in at 12,807 ft, Granite is considered a 4+ mountain and is one of the most difficult of the lower 48 high peaks – the team chose to take the West Rosebud Route. This particular route takes you past several lakes and up to Froze to Death Plateau. The elevation gain is pretty stiff.
No contact yet with the team to fill in the rest of the details, but I know that the summit occured around 1:00 pm. My guess is that the team is hustling to find the fastest way from Montana to Hawaii to capture peak #50.
