About Matt Moniz

Decked out in full climbing gear

I’m a Colorado native – born and raised in Boulder. I’m lucky to live in Boulder Canyon at just over 6,000 feet, right next to Boulder Mountain Parks. It’s an ideal place to live because I’m close to everything I love, mountains, rock climbing and skiing. This August I’ll be starting 5th grade at Flatirons Elementary School. I’m also a member of the Winter Park Freestyle Team and spend most of my winter weekends in Winter Park on the slopes or around the Berthoud Pass area ski mountaineering.

When I’m not in the mountains I enjoy soccer, Brazilian Jujitsu, eating sushi, reading and my friends. I have a twin sister named Kaylee she likes to climb and ski too.

This blog will document my summer 2008 expeditions climbing two of the Seven Summits: Mount Elbrus in Europe (18,510 feet) and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa (19,341).
